Job Title: Ocean Import Agent
Location: Felixstowe
Salary: £28,000 to £30,000 per annum

Job Summary: Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Import Operations Clerk to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience in import operations, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work under pressure. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. This is a hybrid role, offering a mix of remote and on-site work.
Key Responsibilities:
• Reference jobs within the forwarding system (e.g., CargoWise).
• Ensure that jobs are kept up to date with the latest vessel and arrival information.
• Check that the original Bill of Lading or telex release is present.
• Arrange FCL (Full Container Load) & LCL (Less than Container Load) deliveries as per customer requirements and book directly with the customer warehouse.
• Advise charges to consignees prior to the delivery date for selected customers.
• Obtain releases for LCL/FCL shipments as required.
• Check off quay dates/times each day.
• Use Port Community Systems (Destin8 / CNS).
• Perform other reasonable duties as required by management.
• Prepare Customs documentation to ensure that any shipments imported meet all applicable laws so that entry can occur.
• Issue the correct documents on behalf of the customer to ensure that customs are cleared in a timely and efficient manner, allowing shipments to continue their journey.
• Experience working with Port Health requirements/ IPAFFS.
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines while working effectively under their own initiative with a flexible, adaptable approach.
• Computer literate with the use of various systems including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
• Provide exceptional customer service to clients.
• Stay updated on customs regulations and industry trends.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience in import operations or a similar role.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in customs clearance.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in using CargoWise, Destin8 / CNS
• Knowledge of customs regulations and documentation requirements.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
• Experience with Port Health requirements/ IPAFFS is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
