Customs Operations Manager
Job Description
Our client is a well-established freight forwarding company with its head office in Felixstowe
They handle customs clearance for European & Global shipments and serve some of the World’s best-known brands exporting and importing. Now to facilitate ambitious growth plans we are looking to appoint a new Customs Operations Manager to lead a growing and profitable customs department.
Role
Working as part of the senior leadership team the successful candidate will focus on the following key responsibilities:
* Staff management (Mentoring, motivating and supporting a growing team)
* Hands on Operations management, holding productivity meetings, holiday cover, etc.
* Interfacing & supporting the European Trailer operations
* Working with EU customs agents
* Making key commercial decisions to ensure profitability and efficient of dept
* Supporting the Sea Freight department
* Maintaining AEO-C accreditation
* Working with HMRC
* Profit & Loss responsibility.
* Problem solving where required.
* Identifying areas to improve the efficiency of the business.
* On-boarding clients & Key Account Management.
* Business development (existing clients & new opportunities).
* Generating & Calculating quotations.
* Compliance management.
* Attending the weekly operations / sales / management meetings.
Experience / skills required:
* 10+ Years Customs Clearance Experience.
* People management experience
* In-depth commercial knowledge
* The ability to present to clients (teams, face-to-face)
* Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
* Good organisational skills.
* Good IT skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Benefits
* Up to £50,000 Base Salary Dependent on experience
* Bonus (OTE £60k)
